Profile of the author

I have many years’ experience of writing research summaries, programme proposals, synopses, treatments, scripts and voice overs with just over 12 years in UKTV Factual production. My TV Director credits cover a wide range of subjects and include ‘Bargain Hunt’, ‘Flog It!’, ‘Car Booty’, ‘Out & About’ and ‘Birdwatcher’, for the BBC and ‘The Good Health Guide’, ‘People & Pets’ and ‘Animal Passions’ for HTV. I’ve also produced ob docs, corporate, educational & music videos as Perceptive Films.

I love the fact that I’m a creative person with a wide range of practical skills and talents and I still have a youthful outlook on my experienced shoulders. As Perceptive Films, I’m an experienced Director/Editor. I also love to be behind the camera and am told I have a good eye, with on screen DV Camera broadcast credits from 2000. As Perceptive Music I write, record and perform original songs and combine music and media whenever possible through ‘behind the scenes’ documentaries and podcasts.

Before my TV career I contributed articles to Community Radio, Magazines and Newspapers in Bristol as well as press releases, adverts and listings. I taught Film, Radio and TV Production at FdA level for Bath Spa University and went on to guide young people through Media Apprenticeships.

As Perceptive Words I create targeted, engaging and effective digital content for individuals and businesses. My team can create, maintain and update online marketing articles, blogs, reviews and newsletters on a wide variety of subjects and you will find some examples on this site.

I always thought that one day I’d like to write fiction. I’ve always had plenty of ideas kicking around my head and in numerous note books. At the moment I’m writing the fourth draft of a children’s book and and have just finsihed my first novel for adults. The process of writing is so exciting I can’t believe I left it so long to start. I hope you enjoy my new writer diary blog posts and find some inspiration in there somewhere.
